05 JanOster Expands Philanthropic Efforts to Annual Father’s Week

Avi Oster, principal at Avi Oster Media and Oster properties, has long been a fixture of the philanthropic community. Known for throwing high-level networking events and putting social issues in front of the up-and-coming culture elite of New York, Oster took a turn to a more family-oriented cause this year by joining with the Real Dads Network in commemorating the fourth annual Father’s Week.

The Real Dads Network is a charitable organization founded in 2004 to support strong, positive father figures for families. The network uses a mixture of events to spotlight positive male role models, get information and opportunities into the hands of dads, and strengthen the institution of fatherhood. The idea of extending Father’s Day into a week-long celebration of the role of fathers seemed like a natural fit for the institution, which first launched Father’s Week in 2008. It is the only week-long Father’s Day celebration in the country.

Oster told reporters that his involvement is meant to underscore the role that dads play in society. “My father was an instrumental figure in the development of my life, outlook and career,” Avi Oster said. “I am proud to honor his legacy in joining RDN and the 4th Annual Celebration of Father’s Week to support fathers and the important role they play in their children’s growth, the lives of their family, and the strength of our communities.”

The Real Dads Network used the event to bestow honors on several community leaders and award a college scholarship to a promising student. The organization expects to continue to expand the event in future years.
